20 Books to Get Excited About in October

October is a jam-packed month for some fantastic new reads. We’ve got a new book from the legendary Margaret Atwood, as she returns to a dystopian world in the stunning The Heart Goes Last. There’s been a huge buzz around the latest new novels from some fabulous Australian authors – Todd Alexander with Tom Houghton, Charlotte Wood with The Natural Way of Things, and Geraldine Brooks’ fans will be excited to hear that the Pulitzer Prize winning Australian author has a wonderful new novel, The Secret Chord. Historical fiction fans will love Jeffrey Lent’s A Slant of Light, set following the American Civil War, and the new Sebastian Faulks, Where My Heart Used to Beat, set during the last century. There’s plenty for romance readers too with the latest novels from some of the best-loved romance authors – Rachael Johns, The Patterson Girls, Fiona McIntosh’s The Perfumer’s Secret and the new Jojo Moyes, After You. Other exciting news is that we have memoirs from two well-known Australians, the fabulous Magda Szubanski and one of Australia’s best-loved writers, Tim Winton.
