The program for the 2019 Sydney Writers’ Festival has been announced.
Running from Monday the 29th of April to Sunday the 5th of May, the festival will feature 55 international and 360 Australian writers, academics and public figures. Discussions and events, taking place across Carriageworks, Town Hall, City Recital Hall and venues across greater Sydney, will all be inspired by the festival’s theme – Lie to Me.
“Hundreds of the world’s most exciting writers will gather in Sydney to examine the white lies and deceptions that are necessary for survival, and malicious lies that are spun with darker intent. They’ll explore the ways that writing can be used to deceive others in an increasingly post-truth world and look at the lies that we tell ourselves and each other, and those we collectively tell as a country”, said Artistic Director Michaela McGuire, on the eve of her third Festival.
Familiar names featured on the program include Markus Zusak, Chloe Hooper, Leigh Sales, Jane Harper, Trent Dalton, and Candice Fox, to name a few.
