Last season on MasterChef the country was introduced to Merle Parrish, who won the judge’s admiration for her impeccable technique and near-perfect cakes.

Winning the hearts of viewers with her cheeky sense of humour, Merle reminded us of the pleasure that comes from good old-fashioned baking at home.

In Merle’s Kitchen, the great country cook shares her prizewinning recipes for the first time: her famous Peach Blossom Cake, her divine Chocolate Cake, her scones, tarts, slices, biscuits and sponges. Merle Parrish has been competing in cookery competitions since the age of seven. In 1988 she became a judge herself, and at 79 she has won just about every prize in every category in the competitive baking world. Merle lives in Cudal, near Orange in NSW, and continues to compete in shows. She recently won the inaugural Donna Latter Memorial Trophy for Supreme Chocolate Cake.

About Merle Parrish

Merle Parrish has been competing from the age of 7 in state cookery competitions, and became a judge herself in 1988 when she completed her CWA Judges' Certificate. She has won just about every prize in every category in the competitive baking world and became a MasterChef sensation when the judges saw her amazing technique! Merle lives in Cudal, near Orange in NSW, and continues to compete in shows.
