Paws-itively Brilliant: Read Our Review of Smarty Pup #1: Friends Fur-ever by Anh Do

The first ever full-colour adventure from mega-bestselling author Anh Do. Smarty Pup is PAWSOME!

Hi! My name is Lily.

Nothing exciting ever happens to me.

Right now, I have a potato in my schoolbag because it was the most interesting thing I could find for show-and-tell.

But all that’s going to change now that we are getting a dog…

Lily’s new pup JJ is kind of clumsy, but something about his smiley face makes her really happy inside.

So you can imagine Lily’s surprise when she wakes up to discover that JJ can TALK and is SUPER SMART. In fact, he might have the smartest brain in the whole wide world!

Comedian and children’s author Anh Do is back with a full colour novel about a dog, mysterious goo from outer space and a quirky, loving family. Featuring an amazing holographic animated cover, Anh spared no effort in making this a fun and creative book, perfect for ages 6+.

It takes a little while for protagonist Lily to settle on a pet, but JJ the dog makes the perfect companion. I loved seeing them get into all sorts of sticky situations, especially with JJ being able think his way out with his genius-level intellect. I can already tell this will be another bestselling series from Anh.

One thing that I always love about Anh’s books is how seamlessly he’s able to incorporate important themes for kids into his novels. Smarty Pup is no different with Anh focusing on family and loyalty. The bond between Lily and JJ is beautifully portrayed here, one I’m sure many young readers with furry friends can relate to.

The book itself contains stunning full colour illustrations throughout, with a bonus sticker sheet at the back featuring all our favourite characters. A hilarious and exciting story with quirky characters and bonus goodies? Talk about an all in one package!

For fans of Paw Patrol and Hot Dog, Smarty Pup is a PAWS-itively brilliant new series from much-loved author Anh Do. A perfect gift for dog lovers and young readers alike.
