If you could swap places with one of your characters for a day, who would it be and why?
If I could swap places with one of my characters for a day, it would have to be Brielle from Mr. Masters. I’d love to experience the sheer luxury and intrigue of living in Julian Masters’ world– and let’s be honest, who wouldn’t want to be around him? Plus spending some time in a gorgeous London mansion wouldn’t hurt!
If Grace were to give Gabriel a piece of advice about love and life, what do you think it would be?
I think it would be that to show your vulnerabilities and insecurities to someone that you care about is one of the most important things you can do to grow love. Also, being hard and unempathetic doesn’t make you a stronger person, it’s a weakness. To love is to be brave.
If you could steal a line or moment from one of your books to use in real life, which one would it be?
If I could steal a moment, it would have to be the scene in The Bonus when Gabriel takes Grace on their very first “proper” date. Gabriel brings his absolute A-game for this one and spends days planning it to be as perfect as possible. It makes me swoon every time and to me, it’s the perfect way to show someone just how much you truly love them.
What’s one piece of writing advice you’d give to someone just starting out?
Write the story you can’t stop thinking about—the one that excites you and keeps you awake at night. Don’t worry about trends or what you think others want to read; focus on what you’re passionate about. And most importantly, be patient with yourself. Writing is a journey, and every word, even the tough ones, will teach you something valuable. Keep going—you’ll be amazed at what you can create.
Your books have reached readers across the globe and hit #1 on several international bestseller lists. How does it feel to know your stories resonate so widely, and do you have a favourite moment from your author journey so far?
To be honest, I think that love is love in whatever country you come from, it doesn’t discriminate and that shows in my readership.
My favourite moment in my author journey so far is without a doubt having the privilege of mentoring the incredible authors in my author group the SS Cygnets.
Opening Keeperton Publishing in 2024 and working with the incredible team there has been a surreal pinch me moment too. Seeing my books in bookstores around the world for the first time, doing an American tour… the list is endless. I’m so blessed with this life that I live.
As a writer with millions of books sold and your work translated into multiple languages, what’s the most surprising or memorable piece of feedback you’ve received from readers?
The most surprising and memorable feedback I’ve received is hearing that my stories have helped people discover—or even reignite—a love of reading. There’s something incredibly special about knowing my words can bring joy, comfort, or even a sense of escape to someone who might not have picked up a book in years. It’s humbling to know my characters and stories have that kind of impact, and it’s one of the biggest motivators to keep writing.
What’s the most rewarding part of writing contemporary romance for you? Do you enjoy the emotional journey of the characters, or do you have a soft spot for weaving in humour or other elements?
For me, it’s definitely the emotional journey. Watching my characters grow and evolve, as they go from denying their feelings to being completely consumed by them, is what keeps me hooked. But I won’t lie, I have a major soft spot for friendship and humor, too. I love weaving in those cheeky moments where the banter is just as intense as the romance. It’s like the perfect recipe—emotions that make you swoon and laugh-out-loud moments that keep things light. The balance of both is what makes the ride so enjoyable for me and, hopefully, for my readers too!
Gabriel sounds like the ultimate boss: tall, handsome, and sharp-tongued. What went into crafting his character, and how did you strike a balance between his imperfections and charm?
Gabriel was such a fun character to write—he’s tall, sharp-tongued, and so arrogant you kind of want to strangle him… but then he flashes that smirk, and you’re toast. I wanted to craft a character who’s maddeningly imperfect but impossible not to fall for. Balancing his charm with his flaws was all about giving him those moments where his softer side accidentally slips through, despite his best efforts to be the bossy control freak. Plus, his banter with Grace? That’s where the real magic happens—she’s the only one who can truly put him in his place, and I love that about them.
The dynamic between Grace and Gabriel is filled with tension—at times playful, at times almost antagonistic. What’s your secret to creating such chemistry between two characters?
It’s all about pushing their buttons—just enough to spark that tension, but not so much that it completely breaks them. With Grace and Gabriel, I wanted them to clash, to challenge each other in a way that felt real but also irresistible. They have different personalities, but that’s what makes the dynamic so fun. Grace isn’t afraid to stand up to Gabriel’s bossy attitude, and that’s exactly what he needs. It’s like playing a game of verbal tennis, where every witty remark or sharp retort adds fuel to the fire. And when they do finally give in? Well, that’s when the real magic happens.
There’s a certain level of escapism in a story about someone resigning from a dream job to pursue personal happiness. How much of Grace’s journey is inspired by your own experiences or those of people you know?
Grace’s journey definitely has some elements of escapism, but there’s also a lot of truth in it. The idea of resigning from a dream job to pursue personal happiness taps into that universal feeling we all have at some point—the pull between career success and personal fulfilment. While Grace’s story isn’t directly based on my own experiences, I’ve definitely seen people struggle with that choice, and I’ve felt it too. There’s something incredibly freeing about taking control of your happiness, even if it means stepping away from something that looks perfect on paper. I think we all deserve that moment of deciding what truly matters, and Grace’s journey is really about finding that balance.

It’s inspiring to see how deeply you’ve thought about your characters. Experiencing Julian Masters’ world for a day sounds like an adventure, and the emotional journey of characters like Grace and Gabriel resonates deeply. Your advice to write passionately and your achievements as an author are truly motivating. Balancing emotional depth with humor and weaving relatable struggles into your stories makes them impactful and memorable.
