Fiona McIntosh is an internationally bestselling author, who is most well-known among BR readers for writing grand, sweeping historical novels, such as The Champagne War and The Diamond Hunter. However, McIntosh has proven she’s more than capable of switching gears with her thrilling DCI Jack Hawksworth crime series. Mirror Man is the third instalment in the series after Bye Bye Baby and Beautiful Death; and I have to admit, this was one cracking read. But don’t be daunted if you haven’t read the previous books, while I encourage you to go back and read the first two, Mirror Man can definitely be enjoyed as a standalone.
The novel follows Jack Hawksworth, who is hot on the trail of a serial killer after a string of apparently unrelated deaths. As always, Jack is a capable detective and captivating protagonist, and it was great to reunite with the character and follow his story once again.
Mirror Man is a gritty, action-packed and heart stopping thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. Though the killer is introduced quite early on in the story, this in no way distracts from the police investigation, and there’s still plenty of twists and turns you won’t see coming – I certainly didn’t!
If you’re looking for a thrilling new read, look no further: Mirror Man is a seriously addictive page-turner, and yet another standout read from the very talented Fiona McIntosh.
