Foxes are on the run! An evil cat out for revenge! Squirrels in leotards!
After a run-in with the scariest street cat in the Big City, fox cub siblings Ted and Nancy flee for Grimwood, expecting to find refuge in the peaceful countryside.
Instead, they are met with thieving eagles, dramatic ducks, riotous rabbits and an absurd game called Treebonk! While Ted quickly falls in love with his wacky new neighbours, Nancy thinks they’re all bonkers. But she soon discovers that, as kooky they are, the animals of Grimwood always look out for each other.
Now Nancy must ask herself an important question: yes, Grimwood may be weird, but could it also be … home?
Grimwood marks Nadia Shireen’s first foray into young fiction. She is the award-winning author-illustrator of Good Little Wolf and the illustrator of the hotly anticipated Slug in Love.
Crazy animals? Check. Funny foxes? Check. A sensationally silly story? Double check. Get ready to laugh your head off (before it gets bitten off) when exploring the remarkably funny Grimwood. I’ve read a lot of stories about animals this year, but Grimwood definitely stands out from the rest!
Grimwood brims with hilarity, adventure, and quirky illustrations in a fresh and invigorating way. I always appreciate the way relationships are developed and formed in new stories, and Ted and Nancy are the ultimate sibling duo! I have three sisters myself, so I could understand the many ups and downs that accompany a long trip together – like a family holiday. But in Grimwood, Ted and Nancy have a bigger fish to fry and learn to overcome out-of-this-world obstacles together, as a team.
Grimwood is absurdly relatable and sits in its very own lane! Perfect for fans of Mr Gum and The Animals of Farthing Wood, this hilarious, irreverent series from picture book superstar Nadia Shireen is ideal for readers aged 7+. I can’t wait for book #2!
