New in November: 3 Delightful Picture Books

There’s a certain type of joy that comes with finding a picture book that both you and your child will enjoy reading. In November, there are three great new titles that fit the bill – take a look and find your next favourite bedtime story.

Born to Run by Cathy Freeman and Charmaine Ledden-Lewis

My first-ever race could have been a complete disaster. It was athletics day. I had to represent Gold House in the 80-metre sprint, but I almost missed it because I was hiding in the toilets.

Australian legend Cathy Freeman tells her story candidly, including how she overcame insecurity, doubt and grief to pursue her dream of running at the Olympics. Cathy’s story is accompanied by gorgeous illustrations from Bundjalung artist Charmaine Ledden-Lewis. Born to Run is an inspirational and heartfelt book that encourages kids to chase their dreams, best for ages 5-9.

Scaredy Bath by Zöe Foster Blake and Daniel Gray-Barnett

Scaredy Bath was terrified of bath time. Being a bath, this was a bit of a problem.

The master of funny picture books, Zoe Foster Blake, is back with another laugh-out-loud story for the whole family to enjoy. What would life be like as a bathtub who gets nervous about the nightly wash? When the family goes away on holiday, the bath feels lonely, and Scaredy realises that the chaos of bath time is (mostly) a joyful experience. Best for ages 3–5, particularly those who are hesitant to have a bath.

It’s a stunning hardback packed with lots of fun features, including a sparkly cover and impressive fold-out pages opening to 125cm!
