For those of you who have yet to discover the Eve Dallas series, you’re in for a treat. Written by bestselling author J.D. Robb, a pseudonym for the legendary Nora Roberts, this is crime fiction at its very best! Abandoned in Death is the 54th instalment in the series, and Robb shows no signs of slowing down. You would think that by book #54 Robb might have run out of fresh, intriguing storylines to throw at her characters. That is definitely not the case here. Abandoned in Death is a gripping, tightly plotted police procedural that will have you on the edge of your seat from start to end.

As always, the futuristic suspense series stars Eve Dallas, one of my favourite fictional detectives. Eve is a tough-as-nails protagonist and a meticulous detective who never misses a beat. To crack the case, and find the missing woman, Eve must delve deep into the killer’s disturbing psyche, so she enlists the help of Dr Mira for psychological profiling. Plenty of other familiar faces return in this latest instalment too, including Peabody, McNab and Roarke.

Gritty, addictive and brilliantly crafted, Abandoned in Death is yet another thrilling entry in the series. If you’re a crime fiction reader and you’re yet to read an Eve Dallas novel, do yourself a favour and pop this on the top of your TBR pile.
