Alex is Back: Read Our Review of Alex and the Alpacas Ride Again by Kathryn Lefroy

After her adventures in Tasmania, Alex is back home in Melbourne and ready for the next one. But Grandpa Jacob wants to keep Alex protected, and he wants her to go back to being a regular kid and forget that she is the saviour of the world. Why can’t he understand that she’s not normal, she’s special? When things start to happen around the olive sapling housing Kiala’s spirit, Alex sees her chance to prove how important she is, but at what cost?

With action, fun and plenty of laughs, Kathryn Lefroy’s Alex and the Alpacas Ride Again is a magical novel and a thrilling conclusion to Lefroy’s Alex and the Alpacas Save the World.

Lefroy is a vivid and imaginative storyteller. Her world-building is so rich, you’ll fall into her magical version of Tasmania with ease. Usually, when one thinks of fantasy, dragons, unicorns and other fearsome mythic creatures come to mind. But Lefroy’s world is full of magical Alpacas! With such a unique and original concept, I was laughing out loud from start to finish. There’s always something to keep you hooked.

Lefroy’s characters are a joy to follow. Whether it be brave and confident Alex, the wise Alpacas, or my personal favourite, Grandpa Jacob with his online adventures, everyone was engaging and charming. And let’s not forget the menacing spirit Kiala who’s back and more dangerous than ever. If you love a classic good vs evil story with some fresh twists, you’ll find a lot to love here.

If you’re a fan of urban fantasy or Alpacas, this is the book for you. Alex and the Alpacas Ride Again is an epic end to the series and an enchanting journey. Perfect for ages 9+.
