3 Reasons Why You Should Read Jet Set Pets #1: Ready, Set, Go! by Maddy Mara, Illustrated by Kyla May

What’s the book about?

Three stories in one book! Violet Voom has three pets, one jet and an itch to travel.

Wherever Violet goes in her fabulous purple jet, her fabulous (but not purple) pets go too. The pets – a sleek cat, a goofy poodle and a parrot with a terrible case of beak leak – are called the Jet Set Pets. And the jet? It’s called the Pet Jet. Of course.

From Hawaii to the Swiss Alps – via a movie set – Violet and the Jet Set Pets jet all around the world. The Jet Set Pets are good at many things, but the thing they are best at is FINDING stuff.

Strap in for this ridiculously fun new series by bestselling author Maddy Mara and beloved illustrator Kyla May.

Three reasons to read it:

  1. This book isn’t just one quick read. It’s three full stories that each take you somewhere new with a different mystery to solve and plenty of pet-powered antics. Each story is its own rollercoaster ride of action, silliness and surprise. It’s like having a mini series inside a single book, which means more laughs, more snacks and more reasons to stay up past bedtime (just one more chapter, I promise!). Reading Ready, Set, Go! is like strapping yourself into the world’s silliest, most sparkly airplane and zooming off to amazing places! One minute you’re chasing waves in Hawaii, the next you’re zipping through snowy mountains in the Swiss Alps, and then BAM; you’re behind the scenes of a movie set filled with glitz, drama and a whole lot of barking. It’s like a global vacation with a pack of slightly chaotic animals and a super-stylish pilot. Who needs a passport when you have the Jet Set Pets?
  2. May’s art is full of charm, personality and pure pet-powered silliness. Every page is packed with cute little details that bring the story to life, whether it’s the poodle doing something ridiculous in the background or a parrot yelling something outrageous. The pictures make the three stories feel alive and buzzing with energy, which is perfect if you’re still building your reading skills or just love a good giggle with your words.
  3. If you like stories where animals talk, people travel, things get lost and everything somehow turns out okay (but not without some totally wacky moments along the way), then Jet Set Pets is 100% your kind of book. It’s got a little bit of detective work, a lot of silliness, some warm fuzzy feelings about friendship and teamwork and a WHOLE lot of zooming around in a purple jet. It’s great for reading on your own or laughing through with a friend or sibling … and you’ll be counting down to book #2 the second you finish.
