11 books from Indigenous creators to share with kids of all ages

We’re celebrating Australian authors.

Here are some wonderful books from Indigenous creators to share with kids of all ages: from concept books for little ones (Ten Scared Fish), to novels about growing up (Yirra and Her Deadly Dog Demon, My Girragundji), real-life stories for curious minds (Sally’s Story, A is for Aunty), and more.

Two of the books in this list – Warnayarra the Rainbow Snake and Naked Boy and the Crocodile – are based on stories told by Indigenous kids. Naked Boy is a project of The Indigenous Literacy Foundation, which we profiled on the Better Reading site recently.
