This week Cheryl is joined by Sofija Stefanovic to talk about her novel Miss Ex-Yugoslavia, a funny, dark and tender memoir about growing up between the lunacy of Yugoslavia’s civil war and suburban Australia. Together they talk about her life in Australia as an immigrant child, and having to navigate her own identity as both the “Australian Girl’ and the “Serbian Girl”.

Podcast guest: Sofija Stefanovic

Sofija Stefanovic is a Serbian-born, Australian-grown writer living in New York who writes for print, TV and film. She loves immersive research, which is how she’s come to know ufologists, exorcists and love-doll enthusiasts. She hosts the literary salon Women of Letters in New York and she is a founding faculty member of The School of Life Australia.
