Synopsis

Join the girls as they take on the world, one wave at a time!Meet five very different girls with one thing in common: they've caught the surfing bug!Ava has grown up in a big city. But everything changes when her parents decide on a sea change - they're moving to the small town of Beachcrest to open a cafe. Ava will be starting high school that year, and now she has to say goodbye to her life in the city. Her new school is very different and Ava misses her friends. When she hears that surfing is going to be offered as a sport for the first time, Ava uses her snowboard skills to give it a try. Not everyone thinks she can become a surfer but Ava is determined to prove them wrong, and she's making new friends along the way!Ava, Alex, Bronte, Janani and Molly form the Surf Riders Club to help each other practise, but it quickly becomes much more than that. Whether it's learning how to get barrelled, problem parents or annoying boys, the Surf Riders Club are there for each other, no matter what.Officially endorsed by Surfing Australia and includes a special message from Tyler Wright, 2016 WSL Women's World Surfing Champion.

Mary Van Reyk

Growing up in the Blue Mountains, she was a Springwood library devotee, then supported herself through university by working in a second hand bookstore. After graduating Mary worked at Dymocks on George Street as an educational specialist, followed by Shearer’s Bookshop in Leichhardt as the Children’s Specialist. In 2009 she and her partner Chris left Australia to go on a year long round the world adventure. She returned home in 2010 to work at a major publisher in trade sales, business development, and finally children’s sales. Mary now works for Aboriginal Affairs and lives south of Sydney in the coastal town of Austinmer with her husband Chris, and Kelpie Rusty. She can be spotted commuting in the quiet carriage or relaxing on the beach with a book in hand. Her first children’s book, The Surf Riders Club: Ava’s Big Move is published through Hachette.

                1. Olivia says:

This book will be especially interesting for those who love surfing. Although I took a long break due to health reasons, I returned to the sport with renewed passion and gear. As someone returning to surfing after a break, I needed forgiving equipment. Stability and ease of paddling were my main criteria. If you’re also looking for the best watersports equipment, I recommend checking out Easy Surf Shop https://easy-surfshop.com/ . That made getting back into the hobby much smoother.
