Four Books to Read Before They Hit Screens Near You

Books have always been a rich source of inspiration for movie makers, and for good reason – they get access to amazing stories, and often ones that are proven sales successes. We’re seeing this more than ever before. Rather than list all the books of films that are out at the moment, we thought we’d give you a taste of what’s coming up. Read them before they hit the screens – we all know that the books are usually better!

Dune by Frank Herbert

Dune is the bestselling science fiction epic novel of all time, with nearly ten million copies in print. In 2021, we saw a part of the novel adapted into a movie, starring Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Stellan Skarsgård, Rebecca Ferguson, and many more. If you haven’t watched Part One of the film, we recommend it as summer holiday viewing as you gear up for the much-anticipated second part, set for release in March 2024.

It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover

This mega-bestselling novel is a huge hit with readers and the movie adaption has been a long-awaited one. Starring Gossip Girl‘s Blake Lively as leading lady Lily Bloom, and Justin Baldoni (from Jane the Virgin) as the complicated Ryle, we’re very much excited for the release of this on screens. Grab your tissues, this is going to be a moving one for many people out there.

Force of Nature by Jane Harper

Force of Nature is the follow-up to the record-breaking Australian novel and film The Dry set to be released in February 2024. If you loved The Dry be prepared to hold the edge of your seat and intensely chew your popcorn with this next gripping movie adaption, with star Eric Bana reprising his role as Federal Police Agent Aaron Falk. We can’t wait.

Wicked: Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire

This is the book that started it all! The basis for the smash hit Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, Gregory Maguire’s breathtaking New York Times bestseller Wicked views the land of Oz, its inhabitants, its Wizard, and the Emerald City, through a darker and greener (not rosier) lens. It’s set to be a star-studded movie, with Cynthia Erivo as Wicked Witch Elphaba, Ariana Grande as Glinda,  and Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton) as Prince Fiyero. Between the shared pipes of Erivo and Grande, we expect there to be some spectacular singing. If you love the musical, this is a must-watch in 2024.
