The Man Booker Prize 2016: And the shortlist is…

The shortlist of books for one of the most anticipated literary awards in the world, the Man Booker Prize, has just been announced in London – and the shortlist is:

The Sellout by Paul Beatty (US)

Hot Milk by Deborah Levy (UK)

His Bloody Project by Graeme Macrae Burnet (UK)

Eileen by Ottessa Moshfegh (US)

All That Man Is by David Szalay (UK)

Do Not Say We Have Nothing by Madeleine Thien (Canada)

On announcing the winners, the Man Booker Prize website reported: “The judges remarked on the role of the novel in exploring culture and in tackling unfamiliar and challenging subjects, and on the shortlisted authors’ willingness to play with language and form. The shortlist features a variety of voices, from new names to award winners. The books cover a diverse range of subjects, from murder in 19th century Scotland to classical music in Revolutionary China.”
