Kids & YA Preview: An Exclusive Chance to Read and Review Free Books Before Anyone Else

Kids & YA Preview: An Exclusive Chance to Read and Review Free Books Before Anyone Else

We are thrilled to announce that our Better Reading Preview program is now available for kids and YA books! This is a great way for you to get reading some incredible kids and YA titles – you can even get the kids or grandkids involved.

The Better Reading community has LOVED being able to Preview countless books for adults over the past few years, including many popular bestsellers. So, we’re excited to introduce these kids and YA titles that tick kids (and many adults’) boxes – we know a lot of you adults love YA books, too.

So how does BR Preview work?

It’s simple!

  1. First, make sure you are signed up to our email newsletter. You can subscribe by clicking here.
  2. Keep your eye out for our weekly newsletters each Wednesday – we advertise new Preview books here.
  3. Follow the links in the newsletter to apply for each Preview book. Please note, you must re-apply for each Preview book, we will not keep your email for future Preview books.
  4. We then select Previewers by a random number generator. If you are successful, we will notify you via email, and you’ll receive a free copy of the book!
  5. Once the books have been sent, Previewers have six weeks to read the book and submit a short 200-word review. It’s that easy. You’ll then see your very own review published on our website, Facebook and Instagram.
Important details:

– We need all your details, including your email address and postal address, for your expression of interest to be successful.

– Preview is currently only open to Australia-based readers.

– A successful registration to review a Preview book is for that single title, only. With every new Preview book announced, you will need to express interest again.

– When announced, Preview expressions of interest are open for 24 hours.

– Better Reading and the relevant publisher will never share the details provided by Preview reviewers for any purposes beyond the relevant Preview campaign.

– Preview demand is very high, and there are only limited spots available for each title. To keep things fair, if you fail to provide a review for a Preview title on two occasions, you will unfortunately not be selected for future Preview titles.

About your Preview review:

– Preview reviews may feature on the Better Reading website and the Better Reading Facebook page. The relevant publisher may also use the reviews for promotion. When reviews are used for promotional purposes, each reviewer will only be identified by their first name and Australian state. Reviews may be edited slightly, just for the purposes of brevity and clarity.

– Social media posts about Preview may be shared by Better Reading on its social media channels and/ or website.

– All Preview reviews must be no longer than 200 words and must be received by the deadline specified in your confirmation email. You will generally have four weeks to submit your review, from the time you receive your book.

– We want you to have fun with Preview – post photos of your book on Instagram or Facebook when you receive it, and when you’ve read it, share your thoughts using the hashtag #BRPreview. Be sure to tag Better Reading and Better Reading Kids in your posts – we love to hear from our readers! And if you have a Goodreads account, we encourage you to share your reviews there, too.

So, are you ready to read kids, YA and adult books before they’re published, before anyone else? Sign up to our newsletter here!

Opportunities are only for those who appreciate and keep their commitments. Stay focused and decisive so you don’t get left out of the thrilling Preview race, and so you can master the drift boss game.

  13. Jenifer Amanda says:

This is a fantastic initiative for both readers and publishers. Early access programs like this really help bridge the gap between authors and their audience, especially in the Kids and YA space where engagement and trust matter a lot.

From a publishing and marketing perspective, it’s also interesting how community-driven reviews are becoming a key part of book discovery—real reader feedback often builds more credibility than traditional promotion.

It would also be great to see more publishers combining these preview programs with visual storytelling formats like short animations or motion graphics to promote upcoming titles and improve engagement across digital platforms. Tools like motion graphics design can really enhance how books are introduced to younger audiences and online communities: https://animationgravity.com/motion-graphics-design

Overall, this kind of interactive reading experience feels like the future of publishing—more participation, more feedback, and stronger reader connection before release.
