Live Book Event: Sally Thorne, Author of Angelika Frankenstein Makes Her Match

Sally Thorne will be joining us LIVE to discuss her latest book Angelika Frankenstein Makes Her Match. Sally will also be taking questions.

Sally Thorne lives in Canberra, Australia and spends her days writing funding submissions and drafting contracts (yawn!) so it’s not surprising that after hours she climbs into colourful fictional worlds of her own creation. Sally believes that romance readers are always searching for intensity in their next favourite book – and it isn’t always so easy to find.

She is also the USA Today bestselling author of the office rom-com The Hating Game. It is her debut novel that has sold in over twenty-five countries and has been adapted into a major motion picture starring Lucy Hale and Austin Stowell, directed by Peter Hutchings. The Hating Game is a USA Today bestseller that was named in the top 20 romance novels of 2016 by the Washington Post, #7 on Oprah Magazine’s Top Romance Novels of all time (2019), and was a top ten finalist in the Goodreads Choice Awards romance category. It has been cited as a book that has reinvigorated the romantic comedy genre.

          Synopsis

From the bestselling Australian author of The Hating Game, now a major motion picture, comes something a little unexpected... an historical rom-com that imagines Victor Frankenstein's sheltered younger sister's attempts to create the perfect man.

Clever, pretty (and odd), Angelika Frankenstein has run out of suitors. When assisting in her brother Victor's ground-breaking experiment to bring a reassembled man back to life, she realises that having an agreeable gentleman convalescing in the guest suite might be a chance to let a man get to know the real her.

When the handsome scientific miracle sits up on the lab table, her hopes for an instant romantic connection are thrown into disarray. Named Will for the moment, he has amnesia and is solely focused on uncovering his true identity. Trying to ignore their heart-pounding chemistry, Angelika reluctantly joins his investigation, hoping it will bring them closer. But then a second suitor emerges to aid their quest. Perhaps fate is not something that can be influenced in a laboratory? Or is Will (or whatever his name is!) her dream man, tailored for her in every way?

Filled with carriages, candlesticks and corpses, Angelika Frankenstein Makes Her Match is the spooky-season reimagining of the well-known classic that reminds us to never judge a man by his cadaver!

          Synopsis

Nemesis (n.) 1) An opponent or rival whom a person cannot best or overcome.

          2) A person's undoing

          3) Joshua Templeman

Lucy Hutton has always been certain that the nice girl can get the corner office. She's charming and accommodating and prides herself on being loved by everyone at Bexley & Gamin. Everyone except for coldly efficient, impeccably attired, physically intimidating Joshua Templeman. And the feeling is mutual. Trapped in a shared office together forty (ok, fifty or sixty) hours a week, they've become entrenched in an addictive, ridiculous never-ending game of one-upmanship. There's the Staring Game. The Mirror Game. The HR Game. Lucy can't let Joshua beat her at anything-especially when a huge new promotion goes up for the taking. If Lucy wins this game, she'll be Joshua's boss. If she loses, she'll resign. So why is she suddenly having steamy dreams about Joshua, and dressing for work like she's got a hot date?

After a perfectly innocent elevator ride ends with an earth shattering kiss, Lucy starts to wonder whether she's got Joshua Templeman all wrong. Maybe Lucy Hutton doesn't hate Joshua Templeman. And maybe, he doesn't hate her either. Or maybe this is just another game.
