Publisher’s Pick: Writing the Dream

A collection of 24 stories written by talented authors.

Serenity Press is a publishing company that endeavours to create opportunities for Australian authors and share inspirational stories with the world, bringing readers authors who write from the heart, with the truest of intention. Founder Karen McDermott has a passion for ‘making magic’ happen for authors. Starting from a collection of romances inspired by love stories set in Rockingham Western Australia, dubbed ‘Rocky Romances,’ Serenity Press has bloomed into a successful publishing company with some amazing authors.

They are proud to be publishing an anthology titled Writing the Dream in November 2016, which features essays from 24 Australian authors across Australia including Anna Jacobs, Tess Woods, Jenn J McLeod and Natasha Lester. How did they achieve their writing dream? What hurdles did they face? And what tips do they have for wannabe writers?

“You will just be inspired by the first page…”

No two writers are the same, but they have one thing in common: they are storytellers at heart and their deepest desire is to be heard.

Writing the Dream shares the journeys to publication of twenty-four Australian writers, from emerging to established authors. Some are traditionally published, while others have taken the self-publishing route. Some have faced rejection after rejection, while others have had a dream path. But, while their writing journeys are different, all of them strive to create, entertain, inspire and inform. And all of them have unique and creative voices that deserve to be heard.

As Karen says, “each one is a journey, each one is different in its own way, but there is also an intertwining connection between all 24 stories.”

The stories in Writing the Dream are set to strike an inspirational chord in every hopeful writer’s heart.

Love the idea of 24 authors sharing their messy paths to publication—feels like the metodo kanban I use to keep my own writing chaos in check. Anyone else get that weird mix of hope and panic reading these stories?
