Podcast: Stories of Inspiration

As we enter 2018, we thought there was no better way to ensure we’re putting our best feet forward than by revisiting some of the wisdom and advice from our podcasts in 2017. In this list we have collected the conversations that stayed with us, that discussed how to be better citizens, how to be kinder to ourselves and how to look after one another.

In these podcasts, we have Petrea King on compassion, Turia Pitt reflecting on resilience, and Tim Costello discussing his faith and how it informs his day to day life.Stories of Inspiration

Petrea King

Up Until Now is the inspirational true story of an amazing Australian woman who has devoted her life to helping people experiencing life-threatening illnesses and devastating mental distress. Petrea came to the forefront of wellness education after overcoming acute myeloid leukaemia in her early thirties. She sees crisis as a catalyst for personal growth, understanding, healing and peace.

In this podcast Petrea and Cheryl discuss meditation, illness, and Petrea’s most recent book.

Turia Pitt

Whether via the numerous media reports, 60 Minutes specials, Women’s Weekly cover stories or her first book, Everything To Live For, we know about the why, how and what of that fateful day in September 2011 that left Turia Pitt with burns to 60% of her body.

Unmasked reveals the woman behind the headlines, and in so doing, uncovers the grace, humour and inner-steel that gets Turia Pitt through every day – and which leaves the rest of us watching on in amazement.

With the benefit of hindsight and five years’ worth of getting of wisdom, Turia is only now able to account for how she prevailed where others might have faltered.

Tim Costello

Tim Costello is one of Australia’s leading voices on social justice and global poverty and has been instrumental in ensuring these issues are placed on the national and international agenda. He has travelled the world for work in poverty and emergency relief and led World Vision in Australia for more than 12 years.

In Faith Tim Costello takes us all to task on the big issues facing our world. Challenging and thought provoking no matter what the status of your faith, he meditates on what is going wrong and points out how we so often lose sight of our shared humanity.

Cheryl Akle and Tim discuss the value of faith, the nature of extremism, and Tim’s new book Faith: Embracing Life In All Its Uncertainties.
