A Revenge-Filled Thriller: Read Our Review of Seven Sisters by Katherine Kovacic

Men get away with murder all the time. Now it’s our turn…

Naomi started grief counselling prepared to run for cover as soon as her therapist, Mia, pulled out a crystal or tried to align her chakras.

When Mia suggests that she join a support group, Naomi is sceptical: how could she begin to describe what it felt like to lose her sister, Jo? How could she possibly share her loss and rage to a room full of people? How could she express her helplessness that Jo’s killer walks free on a suspended sentence?

And how could she share her deepest desire to see Jo’s killer dead by her hand?

In the group sessions, Naomi finds that her experiences and her anger are shared between the other members: Gabrielle, Brooke, Katy, Olivia and Amy. Under the enigmatic leadership of Mia, a plan begins to take shape: I’ll kill yours if you kill mine…

Seven Sisters is a jaw-dropping psychological thriller that will make you question your own morals — how far would you go for the ones you love? Katherine Kovacic’s new book is a heart-racing page-turner and it’s easy to see why. Her first book, The Portrait of Molly Dean was shortlisted for a Ned Kelly Award for best fiction, and with many other crime novels under her belt, it is no wonder that Seven Sisters is just as brilliant.

When Naomi started grief counselling, she never expected she would be joining a murder club full of women seeking revenge. Angry and desperate for justice, the women formulate a plan to kill the men responsible for their sisters’ deaths. Mia, the glamourous ring leader of the group, pushes forward with the plan even when things begin to fall apart; if they want revenge, murder is the only way.

Seven Sisters had me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. The story starts from Naomi’s perspective and as the plan unfolds, we see snippets from the other women’s viewpoints. This allows readers to relate to each of the women and understand why they commit the crimes. Kovacic tells a story about the families left behind after a tragedy and how they navigate the world. Emotions run high, lies are told, and deception becomes vital. Should the law be taken into our own hands?

Kovacic’s compelling novel will have you hooked from the very first page, perfect for readers of Candice Fox, Patricia Highsmith, and Alex Michaelides.
