A secret beach. A holiday of a lifetime. Wish you were here? Think again…
Lori and Erin. Sisters who have planned an unforgettable holiday to the beautiful islands of Fiji. The night before the flight, the sisters have a falling out. Now on the plane without Erin, Lori wonders about her sister when the unthinkable happens…
Erin now finds herself scrambling as the news breaks. Lori’s plane has disappeared without a trace… Two years later, Erin takes matters into her own hands and is on a mission to find out what happened to her sister and the rest of the passengers.
Will Erin discover the truth? Can Lori find a way to survive? Told from the perspectives of both sisters, The Castaways plays with the past and present to bring you one of the best mysteries of the year.
If there’s one genre I can always read in one sitting, it’s survival/disaster novels. Lucy Clarke’s The Castaways brings to life the unimaginable fear of a plane disaster and the grief and perseverance that come with it.
The novel opens with Lori on the plane as everything starts to go sideways. You’ll feel every moment of fear and anxiety alongside her as the tension on the plane hits breaking point. I’m terrified of flying, and this is my worst nightmare, yet I was unable to tear my eyes from the page thanks to Clarke’s ability to transport the reader into the novel and put themselves in the shoes of the characters.
If I haven’t already convinced you to pick this up, then let me talk about the plot. The story is action-packed and suspenseful, full of twists and turns at every corner. From Erin’s search for the truth to Lori’s intense fight for survival, there’s never a dull minute and you’ll find it hard to be bored.
The Castaways takes the pristine beaches of Fiji and turns them into the setting of a thrilling survival story with a juicy mystery at its heart. Fantastic characters and the kind of fast-paced action every disaster story deserves, this is an unforgettable novel that you should add to your TBR pile immediately!
