A Brand New Funny Kid Adventure: Read our Review of Funny Kid Prank Aliens by Matt Stanton

Ready to see a real-life alien? Laugh your head off with Funny Kid Prank Aliens, book #9 in the super-popular Funny Kid series. Max is the funny kid and he’s going to prank the world!

Every kid wants to laugh, but Max is the boy who can make it happen. He’s also the kid who’s keen to spend the most boring school holidays ever coming up with the greatest prank of all time.

Funny Kid Prank Aliens will leave a smile plastered on your face from beginning to end, with many laugh-out-loud moments in between. Conspiracy theories, crop circles, alien invasions, a mayor who has lost his marbles and the most Un-fun fair in the universe are just some of the things in store for Max and his friends in this brand new Funny Kid adventure.

Funny Kid is the mega-bestselling series from author-illustrator Matt Stanton that has everyone laughing! This middle-grade series debuted as the #1 Australian Kids’ Book and has legions of fans across the globe. He has published a number of bestselling picture books, including There Is a Monster Under My Bed Who Farts and This Is a Ball and Pea + Nut!

The Funny Kid series sits at an unrivalled level of hilarity, with wit and fun laced throughout, and Funny Kid Prank Aliens is no exception. Pranks have always been one of my favourite aspects of Funny Kid, and Stanton’s focus on exactly that – with an alien twist – had me excited just from the book’s title and shiny cover.

Max’s hilarity is brought to the forefront from the opening pages, and that’s before the story even starts! This addition is a gateway for new readers to get immersed in the Funny Kid world, and reminds old readers of Max’s antics. It’s personal and inviting.

Stanton also has a great website and – wait for it – his own YouTube channel! Here, you’ll often find him doing crazy things like catapulting his book across a field or being shot out of a canon. He also demonstrates how to draw Max and the other characters that appear in the series.

With distinctive illustrations and storytelling that will have you laughing for days, this book is ideal for readers aged 7+. The hysterical and surprising ending (no spoilers here!) shows that the end is actually a new beginning – the beginning of book #10! The cliff-hanger has left me reeling for more, but in the meantime, you can find me laughing as I re-read my favourite Funny Kid books.
