Calling All Mums: Read our Review of Earn at Home Mum by Jody Allen

“As parents, we often feel that we are juggling more balls in the air than we can possibly handle.”

Are you looking for a flexible way to earn more cash that fits in around your family? Have you always wanted to start your own business but aren’t sure how? Do you dream of the freedom to see your own schedule and work from home? Jody Allen will show you how to make it happen.

In Earn at Home Mum, Allen explains everything she’s learned to help other women get it right: from how to choose a smart business idea and where to start, to the best marketing strategies and digital tools to use, and much more.

Allen was made redundant in 2009 while on maternity leave and pregnant with her second child. She started her website, Stay at Home Mum, to share her money-saving experiences while her family lived on one wage. It has since become Australia’s biggest mothers’ network. Jody now connects with hundreds of thousands of women and has created a successful business.

I know many women who would benefit from this book! Allen’s been in the same boat many women are currently in, where dreams are still just dreams. But speaking woman-to-woman, she wants you to turn those dreams into a reality – just like she did. She’s made every mistake on her path to success, and she’s detailed them all in Earn at Home Mum so that you don’t have to make them too.

Sectioned into three parts, Earn at Home Mum details every crucial step you’ll need to take to achieve success. Allen shows you how to go about earning a living from your kitchen table and focuses on mum-related business ideas that you could consider pursuing. She wants you to have the freedom and comfort to be your own boss.

The last chapter is called ‘Surviving the first year’, and I thought this was the perfect end to the book. It essentially says: you have all the tools, now go and put them to practice. But you’re not alone, Allen is there to help you go through the motions every step of the way.

Earn at Home Mum is raw, real and supportive. Whether you want to bring in a little extra income on the side or build your own company from scratch, this book will give you the knowledge and confidence to earn at home. Perfect for gift-giving – especially with Mother’s Day fast approaching – I’m excited to see this book in the homes of the mums and women I know.
