Dad Jokes Galore: Read our Review of My Dad Thinks He’s Super Funny by Katrina Germein and Tom Jellett

When is a joke a Dad joke? When it’s fully groan. When someone rolls their eyes at Dad, and he just rolls them back. My dad thinks he’s super funny.

In this follow up to the bestselling My Dad Thinks He’s Funny and My Dad Still Thinks He’s Funny, Dad is up to it again. His audience has grown by one, and family life continues to provide an endless supply of fresh and brilliant comedic material for Dad—at least he seems to think so.

Katrina Germein is an award-winning picture book author. She writes about family, Australian life, and the natural environment. Her popular title, My Dad Thinks He’s Funny was highly commended in the Prime Minister’s Literary Awards. And Tom Jellett has illustrated a number of books for children including My Dad Thinks He’s Funny, Why I Love Footy by Michael Wagner, and Whale in the Bath by Kylie Westaway.

Together, Germein and Jellett have put together My Dad Thinks He’s Super Funny, the hilarious new instalment in the popular My Dad Thinks He’s Funny series. It’s accurate and sidesplittingly hysterical!

I think the book’s precision comes from how we actually feel about dad jokes: while they make us groan, cringe and roll our eyes, deep deep down we secretly love them! In the book, the son asks his dad why he makes so many jokes, and his dad replies: “that’s just how I eye roll.” I found myself eye-rolling at the joke but admittedly laughed, too.

Adults and children alike will relish the accuracy of this hysterical book for readers aged 5+. With Father’s Day just around the corner, it would make the perfect gift for dads and father figures!
