I need to fess up here… I grew up on the 1980s bonkbusters – think Shirley Conran, Judith Krantz, Jilly Cooper and of course, Jackie Collins. There was no YA genre back then, just the initiation from kids’ books into these books which has left me with a great appreciation for those wild, glitzy, glamourous page-turners of the past. The big news is, the bonkbuster is back. And Melanie Blake’s Ruthless Women is leading the charge. I’m not the only one saying that… here’s just a few of the countless rave reviews:

But enough about them, more about me – I loved this book. It was so much fun.
Author Melanie Blake has written one hellova cracking read. Blake is one of the most successful female agents in the world, representing leading actresses from all of the long-running British soaps including EastEnders and Emmerdale as well as titans of 80’s legacy shows Dynasty and Dallas. She has lived and breathed the world she writes about, stating: ‘My characters have all been shaped by the leading ladies I’ve loved and loathed.’ She’s a pretty impressive character herself, and a seriously good author.
Ruthless Women zings along; it’s perfectly plotted with twists and turns, seriously great characters, sharp dialogue, sizzling sex scenes and a power punch of an ending. I didn’t realise how much I’d missed the bonkbuster! Seriously addictive reading.
