Iris Walsh saw her twin sister, Piper, get kidnapped – so why does no one believe her?

Iris narrowly escaped her pretty, popular twin sister’s fate as a teen – vanished long before the cops agreed to investigate. With no evidence to go on but a few fractured memories, the case quickly went cold.

Now an adult, Iris wants one thing – proof. And if the police still won’t help, she’ll just have to find it her own way – by interning at the isolated Shoal Island Hospital for the criminally insane, where secrets lurk in the shadows and are kept under lock and key.

But Iris soon realizes that something even more sinister is simmering beneath the surface of the Shoal, and that the patients aren’t the only ones being observed…

Tarryn Fisher is a New York Times bestselling author of romance and thrillers. Prolific and acclaimed in her own right, she’s also previously joined forces with none other than Colleen Hoover – who happens to be her good friend – to co-author the bestselling romance thriller, Never Never. Basically, Fisher knows her stuff.

Being late to the game when it comes to Fisher’s writing, I picked up her latest book without any expectations, and wow! What a thrill ride. I struggled to tear my eyes away from the pages, and whenever life did pull me away, a chorus of unanswered questions gnawed at the back of my mind until I could get back to reading.

For fans of thrillers, Good Half Gone has it all. Opening with an urgent call to 911, Fisher has us hooked from the very first page. The narrative goes on to alternate between events of Iris’ traumatic past and her present life, which is still very much haunted by those events, nine years on. It’s a veritable rollercoaster ride, with mysteries and reveals expertly plotted all the way through to the book’s stellar climax. With twists on twists on the mother of all twists, I can’t say much more without giving anything away. Read it and find out!

But it’s not just the thrilling plot and stunning twists that make this novel completely unputdownable. Driving the gripping narrative forward is a cast of unforgettable characters, ranging from good to downright nefarious – and I won’t say who belongs to which category. Each character is complex and utterly believable, despite the incredible circumstances they’re in. And don’t get me started on the fantastically creepy setting! Shoal Island Hospital will probably haunt me forever.

If you’re a fan of Fisher’s work, no doubt her latest release is already on your radar, and trust me when I say you won’t be disappointed! If, like me, you’re a first-time reader – you’re in for a treat. If you’re languishing in a reading rut or just craving a book that will have you glued to the pages from go to whoa – make Good Half Gone your next read.
