Susan Wyndham’s Books of the Year 2014

Susan Wyndham’s Books of the Year 2014

Susan Wyndham is an author, and the literary editor for The Sydney Morning Herald.

This year’s reading has been exactly as I would wish: treasures from some of my favourite authors, the discovery of young talent, and the reappearance of older writers who had vanished and reappeared with fresh offerings. While I love nothing more than a finely written novel with characters that lift off the page, I’ve read some excellent non-fiction this year, as well as poetry and even a cartoonist’s graphic memoir. In all – whether they make me laugh or cry or both – it’s the unique voice that keeps me reading.
