Who Do Superheroes Lean On? Review of Super Sidekicks #1: No Adults Allowed by Gavin Aung Than

Justice Junior or JJ as he likes to be called has had enough of being the sidekick for Captain Perfect. Not only does he back him up when fighting for justice but he also cleans his headquarters every day, washes his costume after every battle and is then left alone while Captain Perfect is out taking all the credit.

It seems JJ isn’t the only sidekick that has had enough. Flygirl, sidekick to Rampagin’ Rita, is constantly having to avoid being clobbered or buried alive when Rita is going berserk. Then there’s Dinomite the genius behind the buffoon Blast Radius, he has a degree in quantum mechanics and can speak 47 different languages but is still over looked!

The plan is to band together and start their own team of superheroes, finally receiving the recognition they deserve.

However, just as they are getting acquainted with one another a sidekick from the dark side begs to join them. Goo is the creation of Dr Enok and once he has convinced the others that he isn’t a spy for Dr Enok, the team is complete, and the adventures begin.

How will the superheroes take the resignation of their sidekicks, especially Dr Enok? And can the new superhero team stand up to this pressure along with the regular superhero duties such as saving the world from evil?

Australian author Gavin Aung Than has created a laugh out loud, action packed, new illustrated novel series that starts with the superhero story that kids love and then gives it a clever twist. Perfect for new readers and reluctant readers and both girls and boys, there is also a lot of fun to be had reading it aloud.

The illustrations are full of energy and make the book one that will add an extra layer of laugh for daunted new readers, they add an extra layer of laughs and if you have a little artist it might inspire a bit of comic book creation of their own.
