Each year, Australians have their say about which children’s books and authors they love to read. The Better Reading Top 50 Kids is a well-loved annual event that readers vote for, celebrate and then discuss. It’s a true reflection of what Australian kids read, featuring a mix of classics, picture books, middle-grade and YA.

The titles on the 2022 list transport readers to imaginative worlds – both familiar and unfamiliar – and demonstrate the timelessness of stories making their mark from childhood through to adulthood. We’re thrilled with this year’s list and are excited to share it with our readers.
