Well, we are looking forward to this one! In cinemas November, Fanastic Beasts and Where to Find Them follows Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) as he arrives at a magical congress in New York. Things go awry when one of the creatures in his magical briefcase escapes, turning the city and Newt’s own world upside down. Set in 1926, Fantastic Beasts is sort of both a prequel and a spin off to the Harry Potter series, and since the screenplay was written By J.K. Rowling herself, we know we’re in for a treat!

If the title rings a bell, that’s because Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, written by Newt himself, was one of Harry’s first year textbooks, and you can buy a copy yourself! Click here to learn more.

In more Harry Potter news, there’s a new illustrated edition by Jim Kay on the way! We loved the his drawings in The Philosopher’s Stone, and so we are keen to see what he does with Chamber of Secrets. You read more about the pressure and process here.

You may have also heard about a so-called ‘eighth Harry Potter book’- well, it’s not quite that, but there IS a new play opening in London in July, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which is set after the conclusion of the original series and based on a story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany. Can’t make it to London? Never fear! The script will be published as a ‘script book’ worldwide in July too.

See you in November, Newt!
