Get Back Into Reading on Mamamia

June 5, 2015

Continuing the theme of ‘Get Back Into Reading’, the campaign kickstarted with Cheryl Akle’s interview on ABC 702 this week, Cheryl was invited by Mamamia’s Debrief Daily Network  to recommend 12 books that she guarantees will inspire any lapsed bookworms back into reading. The 12 books that Cheryl is confident can rekindle anyone’s passion for the written word are (in no particular order):

Still Alice by Lisa Genova

The Farm by Tom Rob Smith

The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Stedman

Personal by Lee Child

The Rosie Project – Graeme Simsion

Life or Death by Michael Robotham

The Secret River by Kate Grenville

The Husband’s Secret by Liane Moriarty

The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins

The Soldier’s Wife by Pamela Hart

Burial Rites by Hannah Kent

To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee

And so confident are we that these books will get people reading, if you choose one, read it, and aren’t inspired, go to our Facebook page to let us know why, and we’ll give you another recommendation, personally selected by Cheryl.

Okay, I can’t agree with the Kate Grenville (personal taste) but I reckon you’ve got a great list there.
I’d put on Markus Zuzak’s “The Book Thief” , Lisa O’Donnell’s “The Death of Bees” and Chris Cleeve’s “The Other Hand” (also known as “Little Bee” on the list.

That’s the wonderful thing about books – they can be subjective without offending!
      Wonderful suggestions. Thanks for commenting.
