Sydney Writer’s Festival 2022 Program Announced… Get Booking!

The Sydney Writer’s Festival has announced its program for 2022, and it’s going to be a huge week… clear your calendars for May 16-22 now!

The theme for this year’s festival is ‘Change My Mind’. After a cancelled festival in 2020, and ongoing challenges in 2021, artistic director Michael Williams says of this year’s festival:

“In 2022, this is a festival underpinned by a sense of urgency, by a dedication to change. A response to a world where public debate is increasingly polarised and toxic…

We believe in literature and its role in articulating and shaping a better way. We believe that it is more than words. We believe that a writers’ festival is more than just talk.

Change My Mind is an invitation, a challenge and a promise of intent. Because uncertain times – a world divided and ruptured, at odds and in crisis – require a willingness to be open-minded, and a commitment to generosity and reciprocity.”

With nearly 400 authors and speakers participating, both in person and via live stream, there is something on for all book lovers! The festival is sandwiched by a stellar opening night with Ali Cobber Eckermann, Jackie Huggins and Nardi Simpson, while Chloe Hooper will give the closing night address. A slew of bestselling authors, including Booker Prize winner Damon Galgut and Booker Prize short-listed Hanya Yanagihara, will be there in person.

The line-up of Australian authors (and BR favourites) is also impressive, with Christos Tsiolkas, Michelle de Kretser, J.P. Pomare, Dervla McTiernan, Christian White, Liane Moriarty, Trent Dalton and Hannah Kent all set to take to the stage to discuss their work.
