A clever, heartfelt romantic comedy about a charming family who live in the most romantic place on earth but can’t catch a break when it comes to love.
When the romantically challenged – some might even say cursed – Lowery family gather at their Whitsundays resort for their first wedding in decades, Amy ‘stuck in the friend zone’ Lowery realises that her single tango-dancing mum and besotted groom-to-be dad, and even her grandmother who owns the resort, have hotter love lives than she does. Her sister Carmen is telling Amy that she needs to start expecting more from the men she dates so that she ends up with more than a friends-with-benefits arrangement. But Amy is basically ready to swear off men in general.
But that all changes when she locks eyes with the alluring stranger who just walked into the resort. The Pull in her chest is undeniable. And the look in Josh Brennan’s eyes definitely says ‘more than friends’ – but not in the way she hopes. Josh is ecstatic to meet Amy, his witty stepsister-to-be. He’s stoked that the union of their two dads comes with the lively (if chaotic) family he’s always wanted. And he definitely won’t admit that he’s inconveniently attracted to his insta-sister – not even to himself.
Elsewhere on the island, resident nice guy Harry is absolutely not going to fall for smart and sexy jilted bride Sophia, who is locked in the honeymoon villa trying to kickstart Operation Get Your Life Together. But a harmless flirtation never hurt anyone – right? And Sophia definitely doesn’t need to get into a relationship after just being left at the altar. But she can’t deny that Harry is gorgeous…
With sharp-witted siblings, a bevy of naval officers and meddlesome grandmother determined to see at least one of her descendants happily wed, the scene is set for a perfect storm that will leave no heart untouched…
Lovestruck by Bronwyn Sell is a delightful holiday read. Interspersed with ‘TripAdvisor’ ratings of the resort, and the odd text or instant message conversation, it is the perfect romantic comedy that will delight both those in love – and those searching for love. Sell has created such realistic characters, with their own beautiful flaws, that you’ll find yourself in at least one character.
This is the type of book you want to read while sunning yourself on a deck chair next to the pool with a cool beverage! It will keep you in the summer frame of mind for just a bit longer! You will just love everything about Lovestruck – and will want to read it again and again.
