We are thrilled to announce the 2021 Better Reading Top 100.

Each year, Australians have their say about which books and authors they love to read in the Better Reading Top 100. It has become a well-loved annual event that readers vote for, celebrate and then discuss. It is a true reflection of what Australians read, featuring a mix of crime, women’s general fiction, literary fiction and classics. We’re thrilled with this year’s list and look forward to sharing it with our readers.

During these extraordinary times, people are turning to books for entertainment, escape and comfort. With this list of 100 great books, there’s something for everyone.

We hope you love this list as much as we do… In fact we know you do, because you voted for it.

  2. Jan says:

I cannot, for the life of me, see how Where The Crawdads Sing came in on top of the list. It’s so Hollywood and there are so many wonderful books and authors that follow.

  3. Valmai Ryan says:

I have read 44 of the titles listed in top 100l. Looks like I have 56 titles still to read !!!

  4. Kathy Bell says:

I’m really surprised at some of the choices you have selected. I have read many of the books listed some going back decades. Perhaps you could consider dividing up the books into years or decades. The top 100 from each decade.
Some of the books listed are quite good reads but not extraordinary literature. Maybe also define some categories.
Crime novels, historical fiction, non fiction etc. so many great books I have read in the past few years don’t even get a mention.

  5. HEATHER KINGSTON says:

Can we please have a printable list with just the names of all the books? I have worked my way through 49 books from last years list and would love to transfer onto this year’s list.

  6. Val says:

Hi, can you email me a word list please so I can tick off those I have already read.
    Thanks
    Val

  7. Judy Grothues says:

Where the Crawdads sing, I have read this book twice in the last year, it just has some thing that grabs you.
I recommend it to all the people that I know who love to read.

  8. Alison says:

Can’t believe Crawdads is number one ….terrible writing and ridiculous plot …

  9. Karina Bryer says:

Nice collection and I look forward to updating my library. I also think it would be great if there was a checklist without pictures.

  10. Marg says:

Would love to have a printable list of just the titles and authors please.

  11. Karen says:

A printable list would be wonderful if you have one. Looking forward to some reading

  12. Cheryl Truskett says:

61 read, a few to check out and a couple I probably won’t delve into, but always good to see some new titles and / or authors!
    Thanks.
